This year we worked on the cleaning of the Portsmouth's Cenotaph memorial alongside Mountjoy. The memorial has had a £70k refurbishment in preparation for the 2018 Remembrance Sunday parade and service.
Mountjoy led on the work to repair to the stonework, repaint the lettering, and we cleaned the memorial.
As part of the refurbishment, Mountjoy installed new LED lights so that the memorial can be lit up in poppy red at night in the run-up to the remembrance day service.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture Leisure and Sports said: "The cenotaph is the focal point for remembrance and will look as immaculate as the service men and women on parade on Sunday and those who will pay tribute and lay wreaths as part of the centenary commemorations.”
